HEXWORKS, a CI Games studio, is offering fans an up-close look at the expansive and treacherous worlds of its highly anticipated dark-fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen, through a spectacular new gameplay showcase video. The game, built in Unreal Engine 5, is set to launch on Friday, October 13th, and is currently available for pre-order on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The new gameplay feature focuses on one of the most anticipated mechanics of Lords of the Fallen, providing fresh details and never-before-seen gameplay footage of the dual worlds within the game. Players will venture through the savage lands of Mournstead, exploring not just one, but two expansive environments: Axiom, the realm of the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead.
These parallel worlds exist as two sides of the same coin, each showcasing unique pathways, enemies, characters, and treasures. While players have the freedom to choose which realm to journey through, they will often need to switch between them to progress in the game.
The video also reveals new information about three of the game’s brutal bosses and highlights an integral gameplay ability called “soul flay.” This ability not only allows players to interact with the souls of their enemies but also enables them to manipulate elements of the environment for puzzle-based exploration.
Saul Gascon, HEXWORKS’ Head of Studio, expressed excitement about the game’s immersive mechanics, stating, “By enabling players to use the Umbral Lamp and switch between two distinct parallel worlds at will, we have been able to introduce entirely new levels of immersion to the action-RPG genre. We believe that this addition brings a refreshing, albeit often eerie, twist to its well-established mechanics, such as a revitalized death run, double-layered environmental storytelling, and, of course, a tactical impact in combat. We are eagerly anticipating how players will face this all-new challenge when it arrives this October!”
Lords of the Fallen is set to unleash the darkness on Friday, October 13th, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The game will be available in several editions, including the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition (both physical and digital), and Collector’s Edition (physical only). The Deluxe Edition includes the Dark Crusader Starting Class, a 100-page digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, and a 3D model viewer.
