General Manager Rod Fergusson has announced the introduction of two highly anticipated features: customisable waypoints for Town Portals and an armoury-based loadout system. These enhancements are set to improve gameplay convenience and offer greater personalisation options.
At present, Diablo 4 is navigating its fifth season, which has brought a host of new quests, items, and mechanics intended to keep the game engaging. A notable addition is the Infernal Hordes endgame mode, a wave-based challenge where players confront formidable enemies to collect Burning Aether. Despite these recent updates, the community has voiced a desire for further improvements. Among the requests are stackable Infernal Compasses and a more streamlined loadout system to simplify build management.
Customisable Waypoints: A New Level of Convenience
In response to player feedback, Blizzard is introducing customisable waypoints for Town Portals. This feature, scheduled to launch on October 8 alongside the Vessel of Hatred expansion, will allow players to designate any waypoint in the game as a favourite. This will enable direct teleportation to the selected location, bypassing the need to return to a regional town. Only one waypoint can be marked as a favourite at any one time, and it will be indicated by a banner icon on the world map. The standard Town Portal function to regional towns will remain in place, offering players the option to travel to these locations as needed.

Armory-Based Loadouts: Simplifying Build Management
Another eagerly awaited addition is the armoury feature, which will allow players to easily switch between different builds. Drawing inspiration from the loadout system in Diablo 3, this feature aims to simplify the process of managing multiple character setups. Although this feature will not be available at the launch of the Vessel of Hatred expansion, Fergusson has confirmed that it is in development and will be introduced shortly thereafter.
The armoury system addresses long-standing player requests for a more efficient way to manage and customise builds. By reducing the need for frequent adjustments, this feature is expected to significantly enhance the gameplay experience and allow for more flexible character management.
Addressing Current Concerns: Recent Hotfixes
While these upcoming features are generating excitement, Blizzard has also been active in addressing existing issues within the game. The recent release of hotfix 1.5.1 aimed to correct an imbalance involving the Desecrator enemy. Players had reported that the Desecrator’s damage output was disproportionately high compared to other bosses, leading to this adjustment to ensure a more balanced gameplay experience.
